Your Questions, Answered
-
The consultation is a brief 15-minute video call. It’s a chance for us to connect, for you to ask questions, and for me to understand what you’re looking for. There’s no obligation and no fee. If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule your first full session from there.
-
The first session is a comprehensive intake, typically 50 minutes. I’ll ask about what’s bringing you in, your history, your relationships, your goals, and what you’ve tried before. This is also a time for you to get a sense of what it’s like to work with me. By the end, we’ll have a shared understanding of what’s going on and a plan for how to move forward — whether that involves therapy, medication, or both.

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance companies directly. Payment is due at the time of service. However, I provide superbills — detailed receipts — that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many PPO plans reimburse a meaningful portion of out-of-network mental health visits. I am happy to walk you through this during our consultation or first visit.
-
I’d recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card and asking:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
What is my out-of-network deductible? And how much of my deductible have I met so far?
What is my out-of-network coinsurance rate? Or what percentage do you reimburse for outpatient psychiatric services?
Is there a co-insurance split after the deductible is met?
What is the usual rate for these CPT codes:
90792
99213 + 90836
Is there an out-of-network out-of-pocket maximum?
Is there a limit on the number of visits per year?
This will give you a sense of what to expect, although it is subject to change. I’m also happy to discuss this during our consultation.

Fees are discussed during your initial phone consultation so I can tailor the conversation to your specific needs and the services I’ll provide. I'm happy to walk you through what to expect.
If cost is a barrier, please don’t hesitate to bring it up during our consultation — I’d rather have an honest conversation than have finances prevent you from getting care.
I provide superbills (detailed receipts) upon request that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many patients receive partial reimbursement this way. Before your first appointment, I recommend calling your insurance company and asking about your out-of-network behavioral health benefits — specifically your annual deductible, reimbursement rate, and any visit limits.
Payment is after the services. I accept credit cards, debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, Zelle, and Venmo.

The massed trauma therapy package includes 12 sessions of 50 minutes each, delivered over approximately 2-3 weeks. The package is priced at a 15% discount compared to booking sessions individually.
This upfront commitment reflects the intensive nature of the work and helps ensure you can fully dedicate yourself to the process without interruption.
-
Not at all. Many people come in without a formal diagnosis — they just know something feels off, or they’re going through a difficult time and want support. Part of our work together may involve clarifying what’s going on, but you don’t need to arrive with a label.
While I have specialized training in trauma, I work with adults across a wide range of concerns — including anxiety, depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, addiction, and others. Trauma specialization is one part of my practice, not the only part.

With me, they’re not entirely separate. Even in medication-focused visits, I take time to understand how you’re doing — not just how your symptoms are responding.
That said, the structure is different: medication management visits are typically shorter and focused on how your medications are working, while psychotherapy sessions are longer and focused on exploring your patterns, relationships, and story in depth.
Some patients do both with me; others see me just for medication while continuing therapy with another provider. We’ll figure out the right structure together.
-
Yes — this is actually one of the things that makes my practice distinctive. Many psychiatrists only do brief medication checks, and many therapists can’t prescribe. I offer both in an integrated way, so your therapy and medication are informed by the same relationship and the same understanding of your story.
-
Absolutely. I’m happy to serve as the psychiatric prescriber while you continue therapy with your current therapist. I value collaboration and will coordinate with your therapist — with your permission — to make sure your care is aligned.
-
Yes. All sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video. I see patients located in New York and Texas.
You will need reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone (phone, tablet, or computer), and a private space where you feel comfortable talking openly. I’ll send you a secure video link before each session.

I ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Sessions cancelled or missed with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full session fee.
I understand that life is unpredictable and emergencies happen — if something comes up, please reach out as soon as possible and we can talk about it. This policy exists because your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, and a late cancellation means that time cannot be offered to someone else.
For massed trauma therapy, attendance expectations are discussed before we begin treatment, given the intensive nature of the format.
