Meet Dr. Esha Hansoti
Hello, I’m Dr. Esha Hansoti, a psychiatrist and psychotherapist.
I built Terra Psychiatry to practice psychiatry the way I believe it should be - with time, depth, and honesty. I am trauma-specialized and psychodynamically-informed with training in multiple therapy modalities. I don’t separate therapy from medication management. Every session is a space to understand your story, explore the patterns and relationships that shape your life, and work toward something different. Whether you’re processing trauma, navigating anxiety or depression, working through a life transition, or trying to understand why you feel stuck, I’m here to do that work alongside you.
I have years of experience working with trauma survivors. During my psychiatric training at Zucker Hillside Hospital, I co-founded the CTSRR Trauma Clinic, a specialized clinic treating people with PTSD, complex trauma, and complicated grief. I watched people who had carried trauma for years begin to get better within months.
During medical school and undergraduate, I spent years working with communities that are often overlooked and traumatized including sexual assault survivors, asylum seekers, transgender individuals, and adolescents in tribal Indian communities. That has grounded me in a conviction I carry into every session, that healing doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It happens within the context of relationships and by feeling truly seen and heard.
I am also guided by my own background. I was raised by Indian immigrants from Gujarat, India. I grew up watching my grandmother devote herself to her community in India. Her influence has shaped everything I have done since, particularly my belief that caring for people means understanding the fullness of their lives.
I value honesty, openness, and collaboration. My goal is for you to feel understood at your core and to reconnect with your most authentic self during our work together.
Healing doesn't happen in a vacuum, but within the context of relationships and by feeling truly seen and heard.
